Xiaomi has been doing really great in the smartphone market- whether it is a mid-range or premium mid-range market. Xiaomi Mi 9 was a great device in a big way and impressed everyone. Coming from that prodigy, the new Xiaomi Mi 9 SE is a great alternative with a similar camera system, a nice set of specs, and a lower price tag. The Xiaomi Mi 9 SE features a Snapdragon 712 chipset with 6GB of RAM, 64GB or 128GB of storage, a triple-lens setup, and 3,070mAh high capacity battery. So, is it a worthy pick to buy in 2019? Let us check it out in the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE review below:
Design and Display
Xiaomi Mi 9 SE looks premium and comes with a sleek design. The device comes in three color variants: Blue, Gray, and Violet. The device looks great in hands and feels premium too. The device is thin and light- lighter than Apple’s iPhone XS. The rounded corners and the sides have metal frame feels solid. The device’s display and the back panel have got Corning Gorilla Glass 5 to ensure that the device is fully protected. Moreover you can get great discount on electronic items using Flipkart Coupons.
On the right side, you get all the buttons while on the bottom, you get to see a USB-C port and the single speaker. The dual-SIM Card slot, IR Blaster is at the right too. On the back panel, there is a camera bump having three camera sensors. The glossy design makes this phone look really good but it attracts fingerprints readily.
Coming to the display, the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE packs a 5.97″ inch AMOLED display with 1080 x 2340 pixel resolution. The display panel is bright and is really vibrant plus sharp. On the top, there sits a waterdrop or teardrop notch with selfie camera integrated into it. The display panels also support HDR. You can also tweak the contrast, brightness, warmth of the display from the settings. The viewing angles are good enough to give you nice viewing from any side. Even in bright sunlight, you can easily get to see the screen content. Overall, it may not be the best display device but it is best in its price.
Under the hood, the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE has a Snapdragon 712 chipset which is coupled with 6GB of RAM. The device comes in two storage variants- 64GB and 128GB of storage. With a mid-range premium chipset, this device is really good and has a Geekbench multi-core score of 5,970. The device misses wireless charging and microSD card. The device also has an under-display fingerprint scanner which is a bit slow and the face unlock works fine.
When it comes to gaming, this smartphone can handle everything- from Injustice 2 to PUBG Mobile. You can play PUBG Mobile at high graphics with ease and they work smoothly as butter. The device runs Android 9 Pie out of the box with MIUI 10 on top of it.
Talking about the camera, the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE packs a triple camera array at the back including a primary 48MP camera with f/1.8 aperture, a secondary 8MP telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture and 2x zoom, and an ultra-wide 13MP camera with an aperture of f/2.4. The lenses don’t have any OIS support and the autofocus is only available in primary and telephoto lens. Considering the price of this phone, the Mi 9 SE does a great job and it comes from every lens department. The lenses grab every detail when pictures are clicked in good lighting conditions. For selfies, there is a 20MP front camera which doesn’t have autofocus and can capture good detailing.
Xiaomi Mi 9 SE comes with 3,070mAh high capacity battery which will easily give you one full day of juice on a single charge. In the 90 minutes Video Playback Test, this phone went from 100 to 86 percent. After one day of casual usage, this device still got 20 percent in its pocket. Xiaomi has added 18W fast charging with the device which can boost the device from zero to hundred in just 80 minutes. In addition to this if you are looking for Rajya Sabha Secretariat Recruitment then it could be best chance to try it.
The Xiaomi Mi 9 SE is a one-handed smartphone which feels truly premium and flagship. The device has excellent cameras and powerful performance. Although, the device has its own quirks too especially its custom interface i.e MIUI 10. It is not for everyone but if you can get along with the mid-range chipset, it is a considerable choice. The HDR AMOLED screen coming at this price range makes this device an excellent work phone. But, if you want a waterproof device, wireless charging, and above that, you cannot expand your storage. If you want something less expensive and something smaller, then the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE is an easy device to recommend.
